Specialist Packages

Our trips to Nepal aim to take you off the beaten track to see beautiful (and unspoiled) parts of the country that are seldom visited by tourists.

I often find that those visiting for the first time want to see as much of the country as they can within their 2 week window. To achieve this, we build in some sightseeing, where you can take in the unique cultural aspects of the Kathmandu valley. This would normally be followed by a 7 day trek, (6 nights under canvas) and at the end, a wildlife safari to the forested lowlands in search of the Royal Bengal Tiger, Greater Indian One Horned Rhinoceros and all the animals of Kiplingʼs Jungle Book.

To give you other examples of more specialised trips that we have run in the past, we have included the following:

Serious Walkers:

1. High Altitude Treks. These can be organised for the very keen hiker, possibly trekking up to Everest Base Camp or somewhere more remote like the holy lakes of Panch Pokhari. On these treks you will reach altitudes of 18,000ft and walk through some stunning country. (Please note that an Everest Base Camp trek is not off the beaten track but remains a popular objective for some).

2. Trips into Tibet. Starting from Nepal, we can arrange to trek across the border into Tibet and then around the holy Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash lies at the source of some of the longest Asian rivers. It is considered to be sacred in four religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Bon and Jainism.

3. Flower Fanatics! We regularly take specialist flower groups to both Nepal and Tibet and sometimes to Bhutan as well. (For this the Spring is best).

The Lowlands of Nepal:

1. The Wildlife of the Jungle Lowlands. For those who would like to bird watch and go on safari, the lowlands of Nepal offer a wonderful opportunity to get up close with Nepalʼs abundant wildlife. (Please see the photos on our wildlife page). We can provide you with your own private exclusive luxury camp within the boundaries of the National Parks. Game can be viewed on foot, by boat, from the back of an elephant or by vehicle.

2. Fishing for Mahseer. The “Mighty Mahseer” is the game fish of the Indian subcontinent. Fishing for Mahseer can be an exclusive trip or can be part of your wildlife safari. They can be caught on a fly or a spinner. They are relatively common in the more remote western rivers of Nepal. These rivers (some of which are within the National Parks) and the valleys through which they flow, offer a magnificent backdrop to your fishing. You will have the chance of seeing a variety of animals and birds as you progress along the river bank.

3. White Water Experience. The rivers of Nepal offer exciting rafting opportunities in large inflatable boats operated by our very experienced river team. Whilst some people enjoy the thrill of white water, this does not appeal to all but we can arrange a river trip for those who would like to “have a go”. These trips can range from a one day experience to a weeklong expedition! Clearly fishing for Mahseer could be part of this experience.

Mountains for the Non-Trekker:

A Luxury Lodge in the Foothills of the Annapurnas. Our friend Marcus Cotton owns and manages a very beautiful and well run lodge with views to die for from your bedroom window or indeed, from the restaurant and breakfast area. For those who would like a mountain experience without effort, Marcusʼs lodge is for you. The food is excellent, the views are simply magnificent and there is also a swimming pool! Local walks to nearby villages and visits to the bustling market town of Pokhara can be organised, as well as bird watching in the woodlands around the lodge and further afield. There is much to see and do.
