Specialist Packages

Our trips to Nepal aim to take you off the beaten track to see beautiful (and unspoiled) parts of the country that are seldom visited by tourists.

We always try to give those, who are visiting Nepal for the first time, the opportunity to see as much of this wonderful and diverse country as possible, within a two week time frame. To achieve this, we build in some sightseeing, where you can take in the unique cultural aspects of the Kathmandu Valley. This would normally be followed by a five day trek and to finish, a really special private tented camp in the heart of the Bardia National Park, to be up close with the big game of the Indian subcontinent.

To give you other examples of more specialised trips that we have run in the past, we have included the following:

Serious Walkers:

1. High Altitude Treks. These can be organised for the very keen hiker, possibly trekking up to Everest Base Camp or somewhere more remote like the holy lakes of Panch Pokhari. On these treks you will reach altitudes of 18,000ft and walk through some stunning country. (Please note that an Everest Base Camp trek is not off the beaten track but remains a popular objective for some). These high altitude treks are often later in the season, perhaps into May. This is when you have the chance of really getting to a higher altitude, avoiding the snow of the earlier months. The views are quite spectacular.

2. Trips into Tibet. Starting from Nepal, we can arrange to trek across the border into Tibet and then around the holy Mount Kailash. Mount Kailash lies at the source of some of the longest Asian rivers. It is considered to be sacred in four religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, Bon and Jainism.

3. Flower Fanatics! We regularly take specialist flower groups to both Nepal and Tibet and sometimes to Bhutan as well.

The Lowlands of Nepal:

1. It is also possible to arrange a much longer safari within the lowland national parks. We can have a totally private luxury tented camp in the Bardia National Park and then, after spending some time there, transfer, possibly via Pokhara, to the Chitwan National Park, where different animals and birds can be seen. For the bird enthusiast, a visit to Kosi Tappu in the Eastern Terai is a must. Game can be viewed on foot, from a vehicle, from a hide or walking through the forest with a trained elephant accompanying you.

2. Fishing for Mahseer. The “Mighty Mahseer” is the game fish of the Indian subcontinent. Fishing for Mahseer can be an exclusive trip or can be part of your wildlife safari. They can be caught on a fly or a spinner. They are relatively common in the more remote western rivers of Nepal. These rivers (some of which are within the National Parks) and the valleys through which they flow, offer a magnificent backdrop to your fishing. You will have the chance of seeing a variety of animals and birds as you progress along the river bank.

3. White Water Experience. The rivers of Nepal offer exciting rafting opportunities in large inflatable boats operated by our very experienced river team. Whilst some people enjoy the thrill of white water, this does not appeal to all but we can arrange a river trip for those who would like to “have a go”. These trips can range from a one day experience to a weeklong expedition! Clearly fishing for Mahseer could be part of this experience.
